Truck-pulling Weekends

Okay yall, I am beyond frustrated!

I had a nice article typed up aptly name From the City to the Country furthering my piece on The Change We Needed ……

but I lost it! Just as I was about to post it, it disappeared on me!

Do you know how frustrating that is?

Anywho, with the disappearance of that post, I am simply moving on…..

Do you know what a truck pull is? If not, let me explain. Truck pulling is a competitive motor sport in which a truck hooks up to a sled to pull it down the track. The sled and a pull are pictured below

Years ago, when I first met my hubby, he participated in this sporting event. At that time, I began accompanying him not so much because I cared about the event, but because I enjoyed being with him. Soon enough, life took over. Kids, jobs, schedules, etc began to get in the way of this activity and attending the events waned to nothing. Last year, with a few of the kids a bit older and not so reliant on us, we began to attend these shows once again. Periodically.

This year, we dove right in and now not only does he participate in the truck pull we also assist in the event each time. He helps with set-up and tear-down for the event and during the pulls on the track he assists with the sled hook-up and release after each pull. I am a hobby-ist photographer so that is my ‘duty’ at the events. The plan is to put together an end-of-season yearbook and/or calendar for the participants and fans. We will see how well it goes.

In a couple more weeks, we will be attending our last pull of the season with the pulling association that we are part of. Here’s a few photos from the pulls this season.

If you have never been to a truck pull, I encourage you to find one near you to attend. They are fun! Watching the trucks hook up and pull down the track is exhilarating! Brings lots of smiles and cheers from the crowd!

Find your reason to smile & keep smiling
