I Am THAT Mom

The weekend was a busy one for us, but we had some family time fun which is important to us.

At one point, we headed to the grocery store to buy a few groceries while we were out and about. My little girls are all looking forward to Halloween and have already pulled out the Halloween bin to choose their costumes. My girlies have also been obsessed with the movie/cartoon – The Addam’s Family.

For this reason, my youngest daughter chose a bat/vampire type of costume.

And now, she wants to wear it EVERYTWHERE!

As I mentioned earlier, grocery shopping. Our last stop before heading home was the grocery store.

When we left that morning, everyone said….“you’re gonna let Zeph wear the costume.”

“Umm, yes….yes, I am,” I responded. We are only young once and life is hard. So, yes, I will let my 5 year old daughter wear her Halloween costume every day until Halloween and I will let her wear it everywhere we go. Yes, I will. Thanks for asking.

Why?

Because we are only young once and 5 is a time to be having fun.

Because life is hard enough so we take the happiness.

Because it’s a bat/vampire costume NOT a kid on drugs or shooting up the school.

Because we choose the battles and a bat costume in the month of October is not a battle I’m choosing.

Because her walking to the beat of her own drum is okay with me. I want my kids to know that it’s okay to be themselves and that they SHOULD NOT ever be worried about what others think of them. The people who matter don’t mind and the people who mind don’t matter…at least their opinion doesn’t anyway 🙂

Because I am THAT mom.
