A New Bunk…..and I Fell Off Trying to Get Down!

Camper living at it’s finest!

I love living in our camper. It’s a work in progress until our more permanent ‘old west town’ is complete.

Over the weekend, I completed the outdoor bathroom by finishing the painting on the outside. My hubby doesn’t know it yet, but the next building will be the kitchen…however, this project will start next summer. I’m pretty sure anyway.

Step 4 – according to me – was completing the roof. It was completed before the painting process, I just didn’t get pictures of it, but if you look closely, you can see that it’s done.

Another project completed over the weekend – by my hubby – is a bunk he built over the driver’s seat in our bus-turned-camper. The bus was stripped out a few summers ago with plans to turn it into a camper. We started the process and took it for a vacation trip that summer to the Black Hills. We had issues on the way home with the engine or some such part of the bus so the remodel was put on hold. We thought the engine was shot so we parked it and removed everything we had completed (not much, but enough to travel comfortably).

Anywho, when we decided to live in it until the aforementioned more permanent ‘old west town’ gets completed, we made it our home. However, we needed bunks for the kiddos which my hubby completed over the weekend.

I was on that bunk trying to make the bed and put the curtains back up. As I was getting down, I missed the step and fell. I hit my head on the cabinet behind me and landed on my hip. It sucked! I had a headache the rest of that evening and the next day. My hip was bruised and sore!

And I cried. Some due to frustration, some due to the pain. I’m glad I didn’t break anything!

Lesson learned, though. I’m never getting on that bunk again.

The photos are not the greatest, but the bruise is actually very dark and bigger than it looks.

Not to self – no more climbing on the bunk!
