Being a Mother
I always knew I wanted to be a mother, but mothering is not easy.
Pregnancies aren’t easy.
Birth is not easy.
Lots of sleepless nights and tired days.
Repetitiveness and temper-tantrums.
Attitudes. Bossiness. Arguments.
Not easy with levels of stress.
Not easy is teaching or watching them grow up.
Not easy in seeing them in pain or with a broken heart.
There is absolutely nothing easy when it comes to being a mom.
But motherhood is also rewarding. It’s seeing the discipline you have taught turning to self-discipline in your little people. It’s witnessing the love you have given unconditionally being brought forth as your children stand to help others or offer a shoulder to someone to cry on. It’s the gentleness of you caring for your infant, toddler, school age child as they themselves show this very gentleness to someone.
Sometimes, as mothers, we need to these inherent reminders of what it means to be a mother. Oftentimes, we feel less than in our mothering skills. Some constantly feel the looming presence of failure as they navigate the trials of motherhood. We may begin to feel unloved, unworthy, un-absolutely anything good as we go through the stages of motherhood.
I recently came upon some words written by Whiteney Flemming Write. She describes perfectly the woes of motherhood. The demands of motherhood are great, but the rewards are worth it. I read her words at a time when I really needed to hear them or at least read them.

Just remember momma’s, it does get easier.
Happy Halloween!
