30 Days of Grateful

For today, Wednesday – Day 16, I am grateful for:

Stories of days gone by

I have always enjoyed history. And I still enjoy it so much so that I’m in the process of changing my style of dress as well as the manner in which we live to somewhat reflect what life was like back in the simpler times. I mean, I understand times were tough back then, but life itself was simpler. People didn’t accumulate so much unnecessary ‘stuff’, many were less reliant on technology and services. Money and/or more, more, more didn’t seem to be the driving force behind everything one did. People were not only accustomed to helping one another, but also being on the receiving of neighborly help. Mindset was spiritual beliefs, family and community.

Just simple.

These days, our lives are ruled by jobs, commitments and, dare I say, money. Families have gone down the toilet. Community is almost nonexistent depending on what part of the community you consider yourself to be in (not so much physical location as much as mental belief or class, so to speak.) And spiritual beliefs have taken a hit as well.

But, the stories of those who came before us….our elders, so interesting. To listen to what life was actually like in their day definitely turns on the nostalgia of days gone by. When I chat with someone and listen to their stories, it makes me want to be there, too!

Kudos to the stories of our elders.

What are you thankful for today?

Come on, start sending those responses! I can’t wait to hear what you are thankful for in this life!

See y’all back here tomorrow!
