Daily Dose #46

30 Days of Grateful

Oh my, it’s been a little bit since I posted last. I hope y’all all had a wonderful Thanksgiving full of love, laughter, and lots of cheer with your people. I know I had a great Thanksgiving although there was a slight hiccup, but it was resolved quickly and put behind us all. Now we move onwards toward the greatest holiday of all —- Christmas, yay!

But, before we head into the Christmas season, we first need to finish up our 30 days of Grateful. And as I said, I’m a few days behind, more than normal. So, without further ado, here’s my gratefuls beginning with day 23. Days 24, 25, 26, 27, and 28 will also be included!

So for last Wednesday – Day 23, I was grateful for:

the Long Thanksgiving Break

My kiddos had school off from Wednesday until Sunday evening, returning to school just this morning. Anyone who knows me knows how much I dislike the school year. I would much rather my kids be with me and I am okay with all the time. Some people may frown upon this, but I love having them with me, learning the life skills they will need. Fortunately, they attend Montesori schools so they have a different learning environment than the traditional public school and way less of the s*** learning that is so prominent in the public school settings. We are grateful that we can give them this type of education. For those who don’t know, Montessori education is a way of learning in which the children take the lead through hands-on activity, self-direction, and types of play. This includes the use of learning materials such as bead frames, peg boards, dot boards, stamp games, bead bars, and bead boards in the math environment. Last Thursday – Day 24, I was grateful for:

Time with My Family

With this busy life we are in and the distance between our homes, I don’t get to spend much time with my parents or my siblings. On Thanksgiving, we were at my parents’ house. My younger sister came with my niece and her boyfriends and my nephew. Not everyone was able to be there, but we enjoyed the time we got to spend with everyone who was able to be there. A couple of my girls we the day before and helped cooked the Thanksgiving meal. There was lots of laughs, lots of food, and lots of catching up. I also was asked to do a small sewing project for my dad. I hope to get it completed before Christmas.

For last Friday – Day 25, I was grateful for:

the Near Miss

Driving into town that morning, earlier than normal so it was still a little dark, I almost hit a deer. I saw it just in time to glide around it and thankfully, the other two that were on the heals of the one I missed didn’t come on the road. I haven’t hit a deer in a very long time and don’t really enjoy the thought of it happening anytime soon. In fact, I’m perfectly happy that it never happen again. So, here’s to all the near misses!

For last Saturday – Day 26, I was grateful for:

Meeting New People

As I’ve mentioned, I want to become more self-sustaining on our property in hopes that we can enjoy more of what we do and spend more time together as a family. To do this, we have bought goats to breed so we can get the milk and make goat milk products as well as raise for meat and hopefully breed to sell. We also purchased miniature horses, but those are for our own personal enjoyment. I have recently decided to become a vendor at the craft fairs or vendor shows or whatever term you use to describe the indoor/outdoor markets in which handmade products are sold. To supply my vendor table, with crafts, quilt products, candles, and car freshies. Hoepfully, I will soon have soaps and other personal care items in my stock. And this spring, I will be keeping bees. This venture is so exciting and I can’t wait to get the bees! Anyone, I had a table at a vendor show this weekend and my neighbor vendors knew quite a bit about soap-making so we chatted for a quite awhile about that topic. I learned some valuable information that I can’t wait to use in my own soap-making endeavor. I am grateful to have met these two astounding ladies!

For Sunday – Day 27, I was grateful for:

Books

I am an avid reader from a very young age. However, in my younger years I only read stories that would transport me to a place in which I could never be…you know, a place or time in which we want to live, but for many reason, will never be able to. I read stories of love and romance and fairy tales. Dreamers dream, you know. Anyway, I never got into the how to books or the DIY type of stuff. I also didn’t like to read anything really educational. However, these days, when trying to accomplish the aforementioned self-sustaining lifestyle, I have recently taken up the more education, DIY, how-to type of books and dare I say that these books are very informative and easy to understand. And dare I say, I am enjoying every minute of it!

For this day, Monday – Day 28, I am grateful for:

the Much Needed Rest

One of my daughter’s has been sick for a couple of days and I began to feel a little rundown myself. This morning, I woke with a terrible headache. My husband didn’t fret when I told him I was staying home today with our daughter. He told me to go back to bed and get some rest which she and I both did on the double. We slept most of the day and although neither of us feel 100%, the much needed rest helped a little. Thank you, honey, for the rest day. We love you a ton!

What are you grateful for today?

Come on, start sending those responses! I can’t wait to hear what you are thankful for in this life!

See y’all back here tomorrow!
